About Westminster Under School
Westminster Under School is an independent preparatory school for boys aged 7 to 13, situated in the heart of Westminster. It was established in 1942 to extend the ethos and principles of Westminster School to younger pupils, and has been based at its current premises since 1951. The school is a registered charity, with Westminster School's governing body acting as proprietor. The school aims to nurture an enquiring yet altruistic outlook in its pupils. It seeks to inspire a genuine love of learning, encouraging boys to think for themselves, ask questions, and use what they discover to help those around them. Alongside academic study, the school places equal importance on a well-rounded education that includes sport, the arts, and community outreach. The school's pupils are identified as being of above-average ability. A number of boys have special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and autism spectrum disorder, and receive specialist support tailored to their needs. The majority of pupils speak a language other than English at home, and the school provides support to ensure all pupils can access the full curriculum.

Bursary Support
Bursary provision increasing as more potential candidates are being identified through the Platform Pups programme. The school works with local state primaries to identify bright children who would benefit from their Saturday morning stretching.
Mobile Phone Policy
(Older) boys who travel to or from school without parents are permitted to bring mobile phones to school. When arriving at school, boys are encouraged to send their parents a text to say that they have arrived safely. They will then be required to turn off their mobile phone (that is powered off rather than screen off) and put their phone into their locker until the end of the school day. Boys may turn their phones on as they are leaving and again, we encourage them to send parents a text to say that they are on their way.
