For schools
Support your pupils' exam preparation – without adding to your workload
HeyKitsu is a home learning app that makes 11+ and entrance exam practice genuinely engaging for children. Recommend it to parents as a high-quality, affordable alternative to private tutoring.
What is HeyKitsu?
HeyKitsu is an adaptive learning app designed for children aged 7–11 preparing for grammar school and independent school entrance exams.
Unlike classroom tools, HeyKitsu is built for independent home practice. Children work through personalised learning paths at their own pace, guided by five animal companions who make practice feel like play rather than work.
We're not replacing your teaching – we're giving pupils a fun, effective way to reinforce learning outside school hours.

How it works
Adaptive learning that meets each child where they are
Our Whole Curriculum Adaptation technology builds a unique learning path for every child. Rather than working through a fixed sequence, pupils are guided to the right questions at the right time – challenging enough to stretch them, achievable enough to build confidence.
If a child is strong in arithmetic but struggling with fractions, HeyKitsu adjusts automatically. If they're flying through grammar but need more work on comprehension, we adapt. The system looks across the entire curriculum, not just within individual topics.
Gamification that actually works
Five animal characters – Ember, Monch, Kodi, Kitsu and Nibbles – guide children through their learning journey. Daily quests, streaks, achievements and unlockable rewards keep children coming back without nagging from parents.
We've designed the app to feel like the games children already love, while delivering serious educational content aligned to the Key Stage 2 curriculum and entrance exam requirements.
Clear explanations, not just right or wrong
Every question includes a detailed explanation written for 10-year-olds. When children get something wrong, they understand why – and what to do differently next time. This builds genuine understanding, not just pattern recognition.

Why recommend HeyKitsu to parents?
Takes pressure off everyone
Parents often feel overwhelmed by 11+ preparation. They're not sure what to do, whether they're doing enough or if they can afford tutoring. Recommending a quality, affordable resource gives them confidence and reduces anxious questions to school.
Children actually use it
The biggest problem with learning resources is that children don't engage with them. HeyKitsu is designed from the ground up to be something children want to do, not something they're forced to do. Daily quests and streaks create healthy habits without parental nagging.
Reinforces your teaching
Our content is aligned to the Key Stage 2 national curriculum. Children practise and consolidate what they're learning in school, with explanations that reinforce good habits and correct misconceptions.
Quality without the cost
From £29/month (paid annually), HeyKitsu costs a fraction of private tutoring while providing unlimited adaptive practice across four subjects. It's accessible for families who couldn't otherwise afford structured exam preparation.
No workload for teachers
There's no setup, no homework to set, no marking, no dashboards to monitor. You recommend it; parents and children take it from there.
Free access for disadvantaged pupils
We believe every child deserves access to quality exam preparation, regardless of family income.
HeyKitsu is free for pupils who qualify for Free School Meals or Pupil Premium.
Schools can register eligible pupils for fully-funded subscriptions at no cost to the school or family. We absorb the cost entirely.
How it works
- 1Contact us with details of how many pupils you'd like to register
- 2Confirm eligibility – we'll need the school to verify FSM/Pupil Premium status
- 3We set up accounts and share access details with families
- 4Pupils start learning with full access to all features
This programme reflects our mission to make high-quality exam preparation accessible to all children, not just those whose families can afford tutoring or expensive apps.
