About St Joseph's School
St Joseph's School is an independent co-educational preparatory school for boys and girls aged between 12 months and 11 years, situated in the centre of Nottingham. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1934, the school passed to a charitable trust in 1990 before becoming fully independent in 2003. Whilst it has a Catholic heritage, the school is now predominantly mixed-faith and holds a Christian ethos that encourages pupils to love, respect and understand themselves, others and the world around them. The school comprises a Nursery for children aged 1 to 5 and a main school for pupils aged 5 to 11. It aims to provide a positive environment in which pupils can develop the skills and attitudes needed to be effective lifelong learners, guided by traditional values of respect, trust, tolerance, care and hard work. Pupils come from a wide range of social, cultural and economic backgrounds, and the school warmly supports the full breadth of abilities and needs within its community. It places great value on its family atmosphere and the high level of positive interaction between all members of its community.
