About Nottingham High School

Nottingham High School is a day school for pupils aged 11 to 18 years, located in Nottingham. Founded in 1513, the school originally educated male pupils before becoming co-educational in 2015, when female pupils joined for the first time. The school is a registered charity and a limited company by guarantee, sharing a board of governors with Nottingham High Infant and Junior School.

The school is made up of two sections: the senior school for pupils aged 11 to 16, and a sixth form for those aged 16 to 18. It aims to help every pupil develop intellectual curiosity, independence, confidence and emotional resilience, encouraging them to strive for their highest personal standards through challenge and opportunity.

Pupils come from a range of professional and business backgrounds, representing a variety of ethnic groups. The school supports 92 pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, and provides additional specialist help for a number of those pupils. English is an additional language for 61 pupils, whose needs are supported within the classroom. The school also adapts its curriculum for its most able pupils, as well as for those with particular talent in sport and music.
