About Winchester House School

Winchester House School is a co-educational school welcoming pupils from the age of 3 through to 13. Founded in 1875, it has a long history as a preparatory school, moving to its current site in 1922 and becoming co-educational in 1976. The school is organised into three sections: Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 3 to 5, pre-prep for those aged 5 to 7, and upper school for pupils aged 7 to 13. Boarding is available from Year 3, with two single-sex boarding houses. The school is part of The Stowe Group and is overseen by a board of governors. The school aims to develop lifelong learners with a spirit of resourcefulness and self-reliance, within a warm and purposeful community. Each child is supported as an individual in a safe and stimulating environment where confidence can grow, and pupils are encouraged to be the best version of themselves. Pupils are drawn from the surrounding area, with boarders coming from the UK. The school supports 73 pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including those with dyslexia, and eleven pupils have English as an additional language, two of whom receive additional support with their English.
