About Akeley Wood Senior School

Akeley Wood Senior School is an independent coeducational day school, part of the Cognita group of schools. Pupils are taught across two sites in rural Buckinghamshire, situated approximately one mile apart, with one site for pupils aged 11 to 16 and the other for the sixth form. A junior school also operates separately on its own registration. The school aims to inspire a community of global citizens who feel empowered to be active and socially aware, building character through values of resilience, charity, kindness and respect. Pupils are encouraged to be adventurous, collaborative and future-ready. Pupils come from professional and business families living within daily reach of the school, with a number from a local USA air base, and a small group of international pupils who live with local guardians. The school supports pupils with a wide range of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as more able or with particular talents in sport.
