About Upton House School
Upton House School is an independent day school welcoming girls and boys up to Year 2, and girls from Year 3 to Year 6, with a nursery that accepts children from the age of two. Founded in 1936 by two local mothers who wanted a quality education for their own children, the school opened with just ten pupils before eventually settling at its current site. It is operated by Upton House School Limited, a registered charity overseen by a Council of Management of thirteen governors. The school's ethos is to nurture confidence and talent in both life and academic skills, within an aspirational, family friendly environment and through a lively, challenging and broad-based curriculum. It aims to foster a happy and stimulating setting in which each child can prosper academically, socially, emotionally, morally, culturally and spiritually, and seeks to instil empathy, open-mindedness and strong moral values in every pupil. Pupils come from families with a range of professional and business backgrounds and live within a twenty-mile radius of the school. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as those for whom English is an additional language, and makes curriculum modifications for its most able pupils.
