About St George's School Windsor Castle

St George's School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school with a long and distinctive history. Founded in 1348 within Windsor Castle to educate the boy choristers of St George's Chapel, the school moved to a nearby building just outside the castle walls in 1895 and began welcoming non-chorister pupils. It became co-educational in 1996 and introduced a pre-preparatory department at that time. The school is a registered charity, governed by a board that includes the Dean and two Canons of Windsor ex officio. The school is structured into Pre-Prep, Prep School (Years 4 to 6), and Senior Prep (Years 7 and 8), with the Senior Prep housed in its own dedicated building. There is one boarding house offering separate accommodation for boys and girls, with boarding available on a weekly and flexible basis. Twenty-three choristers board from Sunday to Thursday. Girls now sing alongside boys in the St George's Chapel Choir. Pupils come from families with a range of professional and business backgrounds living close to the school. The school seeks to ignite inquiry, instil a passion for learning and foster Christian values, aiming to help children develop the mindset and skills to navigate life's opportunities as honest, courageous and kind individuals. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as for those for whom English is an additional language, and the curriculum is modified for pupils identified as more able.
