About Stonar

Stonar School is a co-educational day and boarding school welcoming pupils aged 2 to 19 years. Founded in 1895 in Kent, the school moved to its current site during the Second World War and is made up of two sections: a preparatory school for pupils aged 2 to 11, and a senior school for pupils aged 11 to 19. There are three boarding houses on site, and recent years have seen improvements to boarding accommodation, teaching facilities, and the equestrian centre. The school aims to prepare each pupil to live successfully in a globalised world, helping them to develop the skills and attitudes to flourish both academically and personally. It seeks to provide a learning-centred environment where every student is encouraged to understand how to learn and to reach their potential. Pupils come from a range of professional and farming backgrounds, mainly from the local area, while boarding pupils join from across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Far East. The school supports 68 pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia, ASD, and ADHD, all of whom receive specialist help. A number of pupils are supported with English as an additional language, and the curriculum is adapted for those identified as the most able within the school community.
