About St Ives School
St Ives School is an independent co-educational school founded in 1911, which moved to its present site in 1965. It is owned by United Learning, a charitable company, and is overseen by a local board of governors who report to the board of trustees. The school welcomes children from the age of two through to eleven, with an Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged two to five, and a juniors section for pupils aged five to eleven. The school aims to provide a secure and happy environment built on strong, family-orientated principles, where every child's individual abilities and potential are appreciated and nurtured. It seeks to promote integrity, kindness, charity and good manners, supporting each pupil's spiritual and social development so that they leave equipped with care and concern for others, tolerance and trust. Pupils come from families with a range of professional and business backgrounds, mostly from Haslemere and the surrounding area. The school's pupil ability is above average according to nationally standardised test data. A small number of pupils have special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, with some receiving additional specialist support. Four pupils have been identified as particularly able, with the curriculum adapted to reflect their special talents in art, drama, music and sport.
