About Amesbury
Amesbury School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for pupils aged two to thirteen, set near the village of Hindhead. Founded in 1870 and on its current site since 1917, the school is organised into three sections: Early Years Foundation Stage, pre-preparatory, and preparatory. Occasional boarding is available to pupils in Years 6 to 8 for one week each term, with boarders accommodated in dedicated facilities within the main school building. The school is a registered charity administered by a board of governors. The school aims to help every child develop the skills and abilities to become an emotionally resilient, independent learner. It strives to foster a caring community built on commitment, courtesy, co-operation, tolerance, and compassion, while nurturing close partnerships between home and school. Most pupils come from professional families living within 15 miles of the school. The school supports 45 pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, all of whom receive specialist help, and has adapted its curriculum for pupils identified as more able as well as for those with particular talents in sport, visual arts, and the performing arts.
