About St Clare's, Oxford

St Clare's Oxford is a co-educational college welcoming boarding and day students aged between 15 and 19. Founded in 1953, the college has a long-standing commitment to international education and to fostering understanding between students of different nationalities. It is a registered charity, governed by a board of governors. The college offers a one-year preparatory course for students entering in Year 11, designed to ready them for the International Baccalaureate in Years 12 and 13. At the heart of college life is a desire to help students develop their intellect, imagination and independence of mind, while also nurturing values such as honesty, compassion and intercultural understanding. Students are encouraged to engage with their local community and to develop a sense of responsibility towards the wider world. The college draws students from many parts of the world as well as from the local area, with the majority living in college accommodation. Support is available for students with special educational needs and disabilities, and specialist tutoring is on hand for the many students for whom English is an additional language. Where students show particular ability, the curriculum is adapted to provide appropriate challenge.
