About Oxford High School GDST

Oxford High School is an independent day school for girls, founded in 1875. Its three sites are within walking distance of each other in the Summertown area of Oxford. The school is a member of the Girls' Day School Trust (GDST), and is organised into four sections: early years, pre-prep and prep, the senior school, and the sixth form.

The school aims to encourage its pupils to be resilient, unafraid of challenge, and willing to question, nurturing individual strengths and academic potential within a friendly and down-to-earth environment that values intellectual challenge and creativity. The hope is that pupils leave as curious, aspirational, and self-assured individuals.

The majority of pupils are of British nationality and live in Oxford and the surrounding areas, though the school also welcomes a number of international pupils from countries including Hong Kong, China, the United States, and various European nations. The school has experience supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, as well as those for whom English is an additional language, with tailored additional support available where needed.
