About Pinewood

Pinewood School is a co-educational, independent boarding and day school for pupils aged 3 to 13, established in 1875. Set in and around a large, extended house within 84 acres of countryside near the village of Bourton on the Oxfordshire and Wiltshire border, the school has a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both boarders and day pupils. Boarding accommodation is within the main building, with boys and girls on separate floors, while the pre-prep department occupies its own self-contained building nearby. The prep department is organised into three sections — Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School — catering for Years 3 to 8. The school became a charitable educational trust in 1938 and is overseen by a council of governors. Originally a boys' school, it has welcomed girls since 1976. Pinewood aims to nurture each pupil's potential through academic, sporting, musical, dramatic, and artistic opportunities, as well as an activity and adventure programme. The school seeks to provide a happy, secure childhood grounded in traditional Christian values, encouraging pupils to grow into kind, courteous, and considerate individuals with a good degree of independence. Pupils are drawn mainly from the surrounding area, and the school provides support for those with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as for more able pupils through an enrichment programme and tailored curriculum provision.
