About Long Close School

Long Close School is an independent coeducational day school with a long history, having been founded at the outbreak of the Second World War and moving to its present site in 1945. The school has been part of the Cognita Schools family since 2004. It is organised into three sections: the Early Years Foundation Stage, covering Nursery, pre-school and Reception; the Prep School for Years 1 to 6; and the Senior School for Years 7 to 11, which opened in 2006. The school aims to inspire pupils through a holistic education delivered in a nurturing, family atmosphere where every child can thrive. It seeks to support each pupil in reaching their potential both academically and personally, through a broad and rich curriculum within a safe and caring environment. Pupils come from a range of professional backgrounds. The school provides support for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and the curriculum is adapted for pupils identified as the most able. A number of pupils speak English as an additional language, and additional support is available where needed.
