About City of London School for Girls

City of London School for Girls is an independent day school for girls, located in the Barbican, London. Founded in 1894, the school is owned by the City of London Corporation, which appoints a board of governors to oversee its running. The school is organised into four sections: a prep school for Years 3 to 6, a lower school for Years 7 and 8, a senior school for Years 9 to 11, and a sixth form for Years 12 and 13. The school aims to inspire pupils to find their space to pioneer, nurturing the values of respect, responsibility and resourcefulness. It encourages a broad commitment to co-curricular activities, community partnerships, and service, while supporting pupils to love learning for its own sake and to be academically curious, ambitious, and empathetic. Pupils come from predominantly professional family backgrounds across London and the surrounding area. The school identifies a number of pupils as having special educational needs and/or disabilities, particularly dyslexia or dyspraxia, with additional support in place for those who need it. The curriculum is adapted to stretch and support all pupils, including those identified as particularly talented in areas such as sport, music, drama, and art.
