About Charterhouse Square School
Charterhouse Square School is an independent day school situated in the Barbican area of the City of London. Founded in 1985, the school became part of the Cognita Schools Group in 2008. It is organised into three sections: Early Years for pupils aged 3 to 5, Lower House for pupils aged 5 to 8, and Upper House for pupils aged 8 to 11. The school has recently expanded its premises, adding extra facilities including hot lunches, an extended school day, facilities for peripatetic music lessons, and a learning deck and play space on the roof. The school aims to provide a safe, happy and nurturing environment, which it sees as fundamental to academic success. It seeks to instil in every pupil a love of learning, self-confidence, and effective social skills, so that pupils are well placed to make the most of life's opportunities. Pupils come from local professional and business families. The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and autism, and also provides additional support for pupils with English as an additional language. Those identified as the most able are supported through the curriculum and have access to enrichment activities.
