About Caterham School
Caterham is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18, with a history stretching back to 1811. Originally founded as a boarding school, it has welcomed day pupils since 1890 and has been fully co-educational since 1995. The school is governed by a body of trustees and offers three boarding houses to accommodate its residential pupils. The school is committed to providing an environment in which every pupil is encouraged to be the best they can be. Pastoral care and well-being sit at the heart of school life, supporting pupils across their academic, co-curricular, and sporting pursuits. The school also values blending established tradition with the opportunities that new technology can bring. Most pupils come from professional families, and the school supports a wide range of needs and abilities. Provision is in place for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as gifted and talented. A year-based pastoral structure runs alongside a vertical house system, helping to build a strong and connected school community.
