About Berkhampstead School
Berkhampstead Preparatory School and Day Nursery is a co-educational day school welcoming children from 3 months to 11 years of age. Founded in 1945 and set in a residential area of Cheltenham, the school operates across three sites in close proximity to one another. It has four distinct sections: the Early Years Foundation Stage, the pre-preparatory department, the preparatory department, and the day nursery, which runs for 51 weeks a year. The school is a charitable trust administered by a board of governors. The school aims to provide a happy, caring, and fun environment that is stimulating and encourages effort and achievement. It focuses on pupils' individual strengths while supporting their weaknesses, and fosters a genuine sense of community built on strong family and Christian values. The school encourages a can-do attitude, participation in music, art, drama, and competitive sport, and prepares pupils to move confidently to the next stage of their education. Pupils come from a range of business and professional backgrounds, mostly from the Cheltenham area and villages in the Cotswolds. The school caters for more able or talented pupils both in lessons and through extra-curricular activities, and provides additional specialist support for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
