About The Blue Coat School Birmingham

The Blue Coat School is an independent co-educational day school for boys and girls aged two to eleven, situated on a fifteen-acre campus two miles from Birmingham city centre. Founded in 1722 as a charity school in the heart of Birmingham, the school moved to its current site in 1930 and is today administered as a charitable trust by a board of governors. The school is organised into two sections: a pre-prep department for children aged two to seven, which includes the Early Years Foundation Stage, and a prep department for those aged seven to eleven. The school aims to provide every child with the opportunity to thrive, developing confidence, ability and intellect within a caring Christian environment. It offers a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by well-resourced facilities and enthusiastic staff, with the goal of fostering an enjoyable and positive community in which pupils can grow. The school welcomes pupils from a range of ethnic and faith backgrounds, with many families living in the local area. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as more able, ensuring that every child's individual needs are recognised and catered for. Pupils with particular talents in sport and music are also encouraged to take part in additional activities suited to them.
