About Edgbaston High School for Girls

Edgbaston High School is an independent day school for girls, founded in 1876 with Quaker and Unitarian roots. The school is now non-denominational and is a registered charity, governed by a dedicated governing body supported by sub-committees. It offers education across a preparatory school, including a pre-prep department, and a senior school. The school aims to nurture confident, considerate and intellectually curious young women, encouraging each girl to explore and develop her abilities and talents. The goal is for pupils to leave with strong academic qualifications, core values and social skills that will serve them well in an ever-changing world. Most pupils come from professional families in Edgbaston, Greater Birmingham and the West Midlands. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, as well as pupils for whom English is an additional language, with specialist help available for those who need it.
