About St John's School
St John's School is a co-educational independent day school welcoming pupils from the age of two through to sixteen. Founded in 1928 by an Oxford scholar and named after St John's College, the school has a long-established history and remains family connected, with the current proprietor being the daughter of the previous owners. The school is organised into three sections: a kindergarten for ages two to seven, a junior school for ages seven to eleven, and a senior school for ages eleven to sixteen. The school aims to value, respect and nurture each individual pupil, pursuing academic quality through hard work and a broad curriculum that caters for academic, sporting, creative and musical interests. GCSE curriculum choice has been expanded in recent years, and the school continues to invest in its buildings and technology. The school's pupils come from a range of professional family backgrounds and represent a variety of ethnic backgrounds. A number of pupils have special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, and specialist support is available for those who need it. English is an additional language for some pupils, with support provided where required. The school also recognises pupils with particular talents in individual sports and adapts the curriculum accordingly.
