About St George's School Edgbaston
St George's School Edgbaston is an independent co-educational day school welcoming pupils aged 3 to 19. Founded in 1999 through the merger of two schools, Edgbaston Church of England College for Girls and Edgbaston College, the school is run by a charitable trust overseen by a board of trustees. The upper school is housed in an original Georgian building, connected to the lower school, which also includes provision for the Early Years Foundation Stage and a pre-school class for children aged 3 to 4. The school aims to maximise individual achievement within a caring community, developing respect and responsibility in relationships, promoting friendship, fair play and equality, and creating opportunities for personal development in a changing world. Pupils come from a diverse range of backgrounds and largely live in the Birmingham area, with a few joining from overseas. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and speech, language and communication needs. A proportion of pupils speak English as an additional language, with some receiving additional English support. The curriculum is also adapted for more able pupils, including those with particular talents in sport, music, art and computer science.
