About Normanhurst School
Normanhurst School is an independent co-educational day school housed in four large Edwardian buildings. Founded in 1923, the school has been part of the family-owned Oak Tree group of schools since 1996, alongside three other schools in the group. The school is led by a headteacher who joined in September 2020. The school aims to be a safe and caring community where every child can grow both academically and as an individual. It works to help pupils develop a strong sense of right and wrong, take responsibility for their actions, and build inquiring minds alongside their personal talents. Nurturing a sense of family — with mutual care and respect between pupils, parents, and staff — sits at the heart of what the school seeks to do, as does encouraging independence, cooperation, and leadership. Most pupils come from professional families living close to the school. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, and pupils for whom English is an additional language. The curriculum is also adapted to stretch the most able pupils in the school.
