About Bancroft's School
Bancroft's School is a co-educational day school situated on the north east edge of London. Founded in 1737, the school moved to its present site in 1889 and operates as a charitable trust administered by a governing body. The governing body retains representation from the Worshipful Company of Drapers, who founded the school in east London in the 18th century. The school is divided into three sections: a lower school for pupils aged 11 to 13, a middle school for pupils aged 13 to 16, and a sixth form for pupils aged 16 to 18. The school aims to encourage pupils to be intellectually curious, to treat others with kindness, and to be true to themselves as well as courageous. It seeks to nurture excellence by challenging pupils to achieve their full potential whilst maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Pupils come from families with a range of professional and business backgrounds, mostly from London and the surrounding counties. The school has identified pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, all of whom receive additional specialist help. The curriculum is also modified for pupils who are more able, as well as for those with special talents in sport, music or drama.
