About Marlborough College

Marlborough College was founded in 1843 to educate the sons of Church of England clergymen, and it retains a strong association with the Anglican Church to this day. Now a co-educational boarding school, it welcomes over 900 pupils aged 13 to 18 from all faiths. The school occupies an extensive site on the edge of Marlborough in Wiltshire and is governed as an educational charity by its Council. Boarders are accommodated in one of sixteen houses, with provision for boys, girls, and mixed-year groups. The school aims to foster excellence in teaching and learning, encouraging pupils to develop into responsible and confident young adults with the integrity and skills to make a difference in whatever they choose to do. Pupils come from a range of professional backgrounds, with families living mainly in the south of England. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, those who speak English as an additional language, and those identified as the most able, each receiving appropriate additional support.
