About Kirkstone House School
Kirkstone House School is a co-educational day school situated just outside Peterborough, welcoming pupils from the age of five through to eighteen. The school was founded by the mother of the current proprietor, who continues to take a close interest in its governance, supported by an advisory board. The school is organised into two sections: a lower school for pupils aged five to eleven, and a senior school for pupils aged eleven to eighteen. At the heart of the school is a belief that the individual counts. The school aims to provide a caring, family-like environment where kindness, tolerance and strong relationships with staff are central to everyday life. A particular emphasis is placed on building self-esteem and emotional resilience, so that every pupil can achieve to the best of their ability and feel prepared for the next stage of their journey. Kirkstone House is a mainstream school with a specialism in supporting pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including autism and social, emotional and mental health needs. Pupils come from a range of professional, business and farming backgrounds, travelling from the surrounding areas of Bourne, Spalding, Stamford and Peterborough, as well as from further afield including Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Norfolk.
