About King Edward VI Preparatory School

Stroud School is an independent day school welcoming pupils aged 3 to 13. Founded in Surrey in 1926, the school has a long and well-travelled history, having moved to Mere in Wiltshire in 1946 before settling at its current home in 1953. Since 2012, the school has been part of King Edward VI School, overseen by a dedicated sub-committee. Recent years have brought exciting additions to the school's facilities, including new classrooms, a library, resource areas, a dance studio, and rooms set aside for pastoral support and counselling. The school draws its pupils from local professional and business families across a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, with most living within 15 miles of the school. Pupils are supported as individuals, whether they have special educational needs or disabilities, are learning English as an additional language, or show particular talents in areas such as sport and music. The curriculum is thoughtfully adapted to meet the needs of all learners. At the heart of everything the school does is a commitment to helping every child develop a genuine love of learning, a strong sense of confidence and individuality, and a deep respect for others. The school encourages pupils to strive across all areas of school life and to leave as happy, motivated and socially responsible young people.
