About Hurlingham School

Hurlingham School is a co-educational independent day school founded in 1947 in Fulham. It now occupies two sites in Putney: a prep school situated adjacent to Wandsworth Park, and a nursery school on a separate nearby site. The school is owned and operated by a family, with a principal who holds proprietorial responsibility and a headmaster who oversees the day-to-day running of the school. A board of advisors also meets each term. The school aims to provide a happy, secure atmosphere in which pupils can be the best that they can be. It seeks to foster creativity and independence of thought, whilst nurturing self-confidence, self-motivation, and a genuine enjoyment of learning. Community engagement and a close partnership with parents are central to how the school works. Pupils come from a range of professional backgrounds and mostly live locally. The school has identified a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, who receive additional support, and there are also children for whom English is an additional language, some of whom receive extra help to access the curriculum.
