About Godolphin & Latymer
The Godolphin and Latymer School is an independent day school for girls aged 11 to 18, located in central London. Founded in 1861 as a boys' boarding school, it became a girls' day school under its current name in 1905. The school is administered by The Godolphin and Latymer School Foundation, a charitable company limited by guarantee, and is organised into the Lower School, the Middle School, and the Sixth Form. The school aims to provide an education that fosters curiosity, intellectual rigour, independence of thought, and flexible thinking. It encourages pupils to become considerate, compassionate, and courageous young adults who are ready to take responsibility for their community and the wider environment. Most pupils come from within the central London area. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and makes timetable adjustments for those performing at an elite level in sport, music, and drama. A building project has been under way to create a new library, further sixth form facilities, extended dining space, and improved outdoor areas.
