About Dunottar School
Dunottar School is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 11 to 18, owned and administered by United Learning and supported by a local governing body. Founded in 1926, the school originally welcomed girls only before becoming co-educational in 2014. It is a registered charity and combines a year-based pastoral system with vertical houses, which provide a focus for activities and competitions. The school aims to provide an excellent education to all its pupils through strong teaching and a high level of individual support, helping every young person reach their full potential. Central to its ethos are seven learning behaviours — creativity, curiosity, independence, aspiration, tenacity, collaboration and inclusivity — which the school brings together under the name warrior learning. Most pupils come from white British families living within five miles of the school. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, with specialist help available for those who need it. Provision is also in place for the school's most able pupils through a modified curriculum.

Mobile Phone Policy
In years 7-10, mobile phones are collected in by tutors during registration in the morning and handed back to pupils during afternoon registration. We encourage pupils to interact with each other rather than be on their phones during break and lunchtime.
