About Ashford School
Ashford School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school welcoming pupils aged from three months to 18 years, situated in Ashford. Originally established in 1898 as a small school for girls, it became co-educational in 2005. The school is part of United Learning, with trustees responsible for governance supported by a local governing body. The school comprises a nursery, pre-school and prep school located about three miles from the senior school site in central Ashford, which includes four boarding houses and Bridge Nursery. Day pupils come from a range of professional and ethnic backgrounds within a 20-mile radius, while most boarders come from countries in Africa, the Far East and Eastern Europe. At the heart of the school's ethos is a commitment to the well-being of every child. The school aims to nurture adventurous learners by encouraging intellectual freedom, creativity, determination and leadership, helping pupils to develop academic confidence and curiosity. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as the most able across academic subjects, art, drama, music and sport.
