About Alleyn's School
Alleyn's School is an independent co-educational day school with a long and proud history, having been founded in 1619 and moving to its current site in 1887. The senior school is organised into three sections — lower school for Years 7 and 8, middle school for Years 9 to 11, and upper school for Years 12 and 13 — with an associated junior school nearby. Pupils are selected according to academic ability, and the school is a registered charity administered by a board of governors.
The school is committed to nurturing holistic excellence, developing curiosity, reflection, determination, independence and a lifelong love of learning. It aims to promote well-being within a kind, caring and safe environment where every individual can flourish, and places great value on diversity, empathy, creativity, leadership and teamwork. The school also seeks to build local, national and international partnerships, honouring its roots in Edward Alleyn's charitable foundation.
Pupils are drawn mainly from the boroughs of London and come from a wide range of backgrounds and nationalities. The school supports pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, and offers an extensive co-curricular programme to stretch and challenge its most able learners.
