About Wycombe Abbey
Wycombe Abbey is an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 19, founded in 1896 by Dame Frances Dove. The school is owned by the Girls' Education Company Limited, a registered charity, and is governed by its board of directors. There are 11 boarding houses on site, including dedicated houses for pupils in Year 7 and Year 13. The school aims to pursue academic excellence whilst nurturing each pupil's creative, physical and social talents. It also seeks to encourage faith in God and a spirit of service to others, with boarding life at the heart of its ambition to help every pupil reach their potential. Most pupils come from professional families in London and South-East England, with overseas boarders drawn predominantly from Europe and Asia. Pupils join the school with ability levels that are well above the national average. The school supports 65 pupils identified as having special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, attention deficit disorder and autism spectrum disorder, and English is an additional language for a number of pupils, some of whom receive dedicated language support.
