About Town Close Preparatory School
Town Close School is a co-educational day school situated close to the centre of Norwich, set within extensive wooded grounds. The school occupies a charming mix of original Georgian and Victorian buildings alongside purpose-built teaching spaces. Founded in 1932, it operates as a charitable trust overseen by a board of governors. The school welcomes children from 2 to 14 years of age, with a pre-prep department for those aged 2 to 7 and a prep department for pupils aged 7 to 14. It aims to provide an engaging and creative learning environment where individual talents are valued, and pupils are encouraged to think, question, adapt and collaborate within an ethos of tolerance and personal responsibility. Most pupils come from Norwich and the surrounding towns and villages, from a range of backgrounds including business, farming, professional and academic families. The school supports pupils with a variety of additional needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language, with specialist help available alongside classroom support.
