About The Croft Preparatory School

The Croft Preparatory School is an independent co-educational day school located on Alveston Hill, a few miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon. Founded in 1933 in the Old Town area of the town, the school has been in the care of the Thornton family since 1981 and moved to its current site in 1986. It is run as a limited company, with family members serving on the board of directors. The school welcomes children from the age of 3 through to 11, with an Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 3 to 5, and Years 1 to 6 for pupils aged 5 to 11. Pupils come mainly from professional families living within a 15-mile radius of the school. The school supports a range of learning needs, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, with specialist support available for those who need it. At the heart of the school is a commitment to offering every child academic challenge alongside the opportunity to grow in confidence and develop a genuine love of learning. The school strives to create a happy and secure environment in which each pupil can thrive and build a strong sense of self-worth.
