About Sevenoaks School
Sevenoaks School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1432, it is one of the oldest lay foundation schools in the United Kingdom, and is set within a 100-acre site. The school became fully co-educational in 1984 and is governed by a board of governors who serve as trustees of the school's charitable foundation.
The school has a distinctly international character, with around a third of boarders coming from overseas. Alongside IGCSE and GCSE qualifications, pupils study the International Baccalaureate, and the school has also developed its own externally moderated courses, the Sevenoaks School Certificate. The school aims to provide an ambitious, liberal education that encourages curiosity, cultural awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility towards others.
Pupils come from a range of backgrounds and the school offers additional support for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as for those with English as an additional language. The curriculum is also adapted for the most able pupils and for those with particular talents in sport and music.
