About Riverston School
Riverston School is an independent co-educational day school supporting pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. It is organised in three sections: a Nursery and Early Years for children aged 9 months to 4 years, a Senior School for pupils aged 11 to 16, and Riverston College for pupils aged 16 to 21. The school became part of the Chatsworth School Group in March 2021, who form the governing body. The school aims to provide a safe, warm, caring and stimulating environment that enables pupils to develop their skills, talents, resilience and self-confidence, so that they can go on to live worthwhile and independent lives. Most pupils live within a 20-mile radius of the school and come from a range of backgrounds. The large majority of pupils have special educational needs and/or disabilities, mainly autism, and receive additional specialist support. Pupils for whom English is an additional language are supported by their classroom teachers, and the curriculum is modified for the school's most able pupils.
