About Pangbourne College

Pangbourne College is a co-educational independent school for pupils aged 11 to 18, offering both day and boarding places. Founded in 1917 by the Devitt and Moore Shipping Company as a nautical college, it continues to occupy its original campus. The college is a registered charity, governed by a board of governors, and is made up of a junior department for pupils aged 11 to 13 and a senior department for those aged 13 to 18. Guided by a Christian ethos, the college aims to develop pupils' academic potential alongside qualities such as kindness, selflessness, moral courage, initiative, industry, resilience and integrity — values the college calls its seven Flag Values. Teamwork, leadership, self-discipline and service are also central to what the college hopes to nurture in its young people. Pupils come from a range of professional and business backgrounds, predominantly from Berkshire, London and the surrounding counties, with some joining from overseas. The college is attentive to the different needs of its community, offering specialist support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, additional English language support where needed, and further opportunities for those with particular academic strengths or talents in areas such as sport, music, art, drama and design and technology.
