About Newcastle-under-Lyme School
Newcastle-under-Lyme School is a co-educational, independent day school welcoming pupils from the age of 3 through to 18. Founded in 1981 through the coming together of Newcastle High School and Orme Girls' School, the school is a registered charity governed by a dedicated governing body. It is structured into a junior school for pupils aged 4 to 11, which includes provision for children from age 3 within the Early Years Foundation Stage, and a senior school for pupils aged 11 to 18, including a sixth form. The school draws pupils from professional and commercial families living within a 20-mile radius, reflecting the ethnic diversity of the local area. It is committed to supporting every pupil, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language. For more able pupils and those with particular talents in areas such as sport, music, art or drama, there are extension opportunities and specialist coaching available. At the heart of the school is a warm, purposeful and caring ethos. It aims to give pupils the best possible start in life by encouraging strong academic achievement alongside a rich range of co-curricular activities, all within a calm, friendly and aspirational environment.
