About Mount Kelly
Mount Kelly Foundation is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, founded in 1877 and set across two sites on either side of the River Tavy in Tavistock. The preparatory school — which includes a pre-prep from Nursery to Year 2 and a prep for Years 3 to 8 — sits on one site, while the college, housing the senior school and sixth form, sits on the other. Boarding is available from Year 3, with pupils accommodated across seven houses spread between both sites. The school aims to provide a values-led education, nurturing qualities such as spiritual growth, moral fortitude, service to others, and a breadth of outlook that balances local roots with a global perspective. Creativity, tradition, diversity, and inclusion all form part of the school's ethos. The school welcomes pupils from a range of backgrounds, both within the UK and from overseas, and has a notably strong community of swimmers drawn from across Europe and beyond. Provision is in place to support the 175 pupils identified with special educational needs and/or disabilities, 68 of whom receive additional specialist help, and there is dedicated support for the 92 pupils for whom English is an additional language.
