About Kingswood Preparatory School

Kingswood Preparatory School was founded by John Wesley in 1748, with the current site established in 1993. It is a co-educational day and boarding school welcoming boys and girls aged from 3 to 11 years. The school is part of the Kingswood Foundation charitable trust, which also includes a senior school for pupils aged 11 to 18. Although a Christian school, pupils from non-Christian traditions are warmly welcomed. The school aims to provide a happy, caring and disciplined environment in which pupils from around the world and from a diversity of backgrounds can grow and mature. It seeks to challenge every child to fulfil their academic potential and to find joy in their own achievements and in those of others, whilst also developing each pupil's character, talents and independence. Most pupils live in the surrounding area, and the school offers flexible boarding alongside full-time boarding for a smaller number of pupils. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language, and provides additional challenge across all subjects for more able pupils. Specific coaching is also available for pupils with talents in sport, music, art or drama.
