About Hornsby House School

Hornsby House School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 4 to 11. Founded in 1988 by Professor Bevé Hornsby, a speech and language therapist, the school moved to its current site in 1993. It is run as a registered charity, The Hornsby School Educational Trust, with trustees serving as governors of the school. The school is organised into three sections: the Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged four to five, Lower School for those aged 5 to 7, and Upper School for pupils aged 7 to 11, with classes grouped by age. Most pupils come from the surrounding area and represent a range of backgrounds and heritages. Hornsby House aims to prepare pupils for the next stage of their education through a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum, delivered within a caring and secure environment. The school places great importance on nurturing each child's self-esteem, creativity, imagination, and curiosity, whilst also encouraging courtesy, empathy, and a respect for others. Support is available for pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs or disabilities, and provision is made for the most able pupils as well as those with particular talents in sport, music, art, or drama.
