About Hendon Preparatory School
Hendon Preparatory School is an independent co-educational day school with a long history, having been founded in 1873. The school moved to its present location in the 1950s and became fully co-educational as an 11+ prep school in 2020. It has been owned and overseen by Cognita Schools Ltd since 2004. The school welcomes children from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 6, encompassing Preschool, Reception, Pre-prep and Prep. The school aims to stretch and challenge pupils to achieve the best they can as individual learners, celebrating diversity and encouraging passion through its curriculum. Wellbeing, belonging, representation and inclusion are at the heart of school life, and the school works hard to ensure a safe and happy learning environment for everyone. Most pupils come from professional and business families living within a 10-mile radius of the school. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as the most able, ensuring that every child receives the support and challenge they need to thrive.
