About Heatherton School

Heatherton School is a prep school founded in 1912. It welcomes boys and girls in its Nursery, catering for children aged three and four, before continuing as a girls-only school from Reception through to Year 6. Since 2011, the school has been part of the Berkhamsted Schools Group, a registered charity bringing together six schools for pupils from five months to eighteen years of age, all sharing governance and oversight from a principal and a shared board of governors. The school aims to create a warm family community in which every pupil grows in confidence, curiosity and resilience. It seeks to nurture moral awareness, respect for others and a genuine enthusiasm for learning, so that pupils are well prepared for the next steps of their educational journey. Most pupils come from professional and business backgrounds. The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, providing specialist help where needed, and adapts its curriculum for those who show particular ability or talent in areas such as sport, drama, dance, art and music.
