About Garden House School

Garden House School is an independent day school welcoming children from the age of 3 to 11. Founded in 1950, it began as a day pre-prep school for girls before expanding to include a boys' school in 1989. Since 2009, both boys and girls have been able to continue their education at the school through to age 11. The school is organised into three sections — the girls' school, the boys' school, and Early Years — with boys and girls educated separately outside of Early Years.

The school is owned and led by co-proprietors who shape its ethos and oversee its direction. Its mission is to enable a happy, well-spent childhood, fostering a stimulating and supportive environment where children develop a genuine enthusiasm for learning. Pupils are encouraged to become independent thinkers and to grow in confidence, grace and courage. The school's motto, non sibi sed omnibus — not for one, for all — reflects this sense of community and shared purpose.

Most pupils come from the local area and professional backgrounds. The school supports a range of learners, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language, with tailored support in place for those who need it.
