About Caldicott

Caldicott Preparatory School is an independent day and boarding school for boys aged between 7 and 13. Founded in 1904 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire as a Church of England preparatory school for The Leys School in Cambridge, it continues to worship in the Anglican tradition. The school is a charitable trust administered by a board of governors. Pupils in the first four years attend as day pupils, with all boys required to board for their final two years in preparation for the move to senior schools at 13. Boarders are accommodated on the upper floor of the main house. The school draws pupils from the local area and parts of west London, from a range of business and professional backgrounds. The school aims to develop each boy's potential academically, personally, culturally, physically and spiritually, while encouraging good manners, tolerance and respect for everyone within the Caldicott community and beyond. Pupils are supported according to their individual needs, with specialist help available for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as support for those with English as an additional language. More able pupils are catered for in lessons and through ability grouping in English and mathematics from Year 5.
