Birkdale School is an independent day school for boys aged 11 to 16, located in Sheffield. The sixth form has been co-educational for the last 25 years. Together with Birkdale Preparatory School, it operates as a charitable foundation overseen by a governing body. The school's Christian faith underpins its core values of care and respect for all, commitment to one another and to the school, and the pursuit and celebration of excellence. It aims to give all pupils a strong academic education while developing them as rounded individuals, prepared to play a responsible role in the wider community. A large majority of pupils come from Sheffield and its surroundings, mostly from professional and business families. The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as those for whom English is an additional language, and it adapts its curriculum for more able pupils.

Strictly no phones during the school day. Sixth-formers have more latitude.
