Times tables are one of those things every child preparing for the 11+ has to get right. The quicker they can recall their times tables, the quicker they'll be able to answer questions – and that saving can make all the difference on the day.
That's why we've expanded HeyKitsu with its own way to master the times tables. And it's live – at no extra cost – for all customers.
What it is
Times Table Expander is a dedicated practice mode inside HeyKitsu. Each session is 15 questions. The questions start friendly and get harder as you go – so a child who breezes through the early ones will meet something that actually challenges them by the end.
There are four levels to choose from.

Easy covers times tables 1 to 5 – a good warm-up, or a confidence builder if a child is earlier in their preparation. Medium moves into the 3 to 9 range, where most of the common mistakes live. Hard goes all the way up to 12 × 12, with multiple choice options designed to test accuracy under time pressure.

Then there's Master mode...
Master mode
Master is different. There's no multiple choice. A child types the answer themselves – so there's no process of elimination and no lucky guesses. It's the closest thing to exam conditions you can get for a times tables drill.

Every answer in Master mode gets timed. Those times feed into a mastery report – a 12 × 12 grid showing every combination your child has attempted, colour-coded from green (under 2 seconds) to red (over 12 seconds), with anything not yet tried shown in grey. At a glance, you can see exactly where the gaps are.
Instead of "You need to practise your 8 times table", you can show them exactly the ones that trip them up. (For me, it's always been 6 × 8. School was a long time ago. I should use Times Table Expander more.)
How to find it
Times Table Expander is available now on iOS and web. Open HeyKitsu, tap the Maths section, and you'll find it there – just tap the x.

It's included in your subscription – nothing extra to unlock.
If you're not yet a subscriber, the first few levels are free to try without signing up.
